Methodology

SoccerSimulatorWC2026 combines an editable tournament simulator with a transparent sports-intelligence layer. The simulator is designed for fans who want to explore possible World Cup 2026 outcomes without being forced to predict every game.

Group standings

Group tables are calculated from entered scores using football standings logic: three points for a win, one for a draw, goal difference, goals scored, and then a stable ordering fallback. If a user does not want to enter all group scores, they can manually lock qualifiers and continue with a partial prediction.

Knockout bracket

Knockout rounds are generated from qualified teams and user selections. Users can choose winners round by round, leave future rounds blank, restart the tournament, or share a partial bracket. This makes the tool useful both before and during the tournament.

Live results

The backend stores match history permanently in the app data volume. Incoming provider results update stored matches, but old completed results are not removed when a live-score provider stops returning them. The score model supports regular time, half-time, full-time, extra time, penalty shootouts and final winner decisions.

MatchIQ probabilities

MatchIQ uses team strength ratings to estimate win, draw and loss probabilities. Confidence increases when the probability gap is large and decreases when teams are closely matched. Volatility reflects uncertainty, especially in close games and earlier rounds.

Important disclaimer

MatchIQ sells analysis and predictive intelligence only. It does not accept wagers, facilitate betting, hold customer funds or distribute winnings. The model is informational and entertainment content, not advice or a guarantee.
